Ting immigrated to Virginia with a one-way ticket from Communist China. With the goal of creating a second career for her parents, she began sewing and selling decorative flags in her garage. Ting and her husband Frank cofounded Evergreen Enterprises in 1993. Realizing the potential for mass production, Evergreen expanded into a global wholesale and retail enterprise. Today Evergreen employs 1,500 worldwide and has annual revenues over $300 million. In 2010, they acquired the leading national retailer in the catalog industry, Plow and Hearth.
