YEARLY INITIATIVE

City-wide public art projects

City As Canvas is Tom Tom’s yearly art initiative that transforms Charlottesville through public art projects, artist residencies, and community engagement. City as Canvas activates underused spaces within the community, producing spontaneous creation, as well as permanent art that lasts beyond the duration of the festival. 2017’s initiative will be bigger than ever – adding new and diverse programs, more murals, and the third installment of the City Art Bus whose design was chosen by you!

Mural Project

For 3 years, the Tom Tom Mural Project has been engaging local and regional artists at multiple sites throughout Charlottesville. The murals created during the week of each year’s festival inspire residents to reimagine their neighborhoods as opportunities for creativity and expression year-round.
