Andrew Mondschein, PhD AICP, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning at the University of Virginia School of Architecture. He teaches and studies transportation systems and travel behavior, examining the effects of new technology on travel and and methods for integrating new technologies into transportation planning. Dr. Mondschein’s research emphasizes the human experience of travel as a key part of transportation’s social impact. Recent projects include community-engaged travel data and analysis using wearable sensors, examining the effects of autonomous vehicles on walking and biking, and mapping perceptions of mobility, accessibility, and nature across cities in India.
